If I said to you this is what anxiety and stress are like would you agree…

Imagine your car was just sat there doing nothing, just minding its own business and being all car like.

Along comes Car Thief…

They traumatise your car, by attempting to steal it, take it away from where it feels safe!

Protection mechanisms kick in…

The alarm sounds!!!

Warning!!!! Alerting!!!! You can imagine it now that awful alarm sound 🚨‼️

And it works, yay it scares Car Thief away! The event is over, your car is safe… BUT here’s the thing and it’s a big but for a reason…

Even though that moment has passed your car has become damaged, it’s alarm, it’s warning system, it’s protection mechanism is stuck…

It‘s either constantly sounding or doing it intermittently, when you least expect it! Imagine now what that would be like driving around safely, trying to relax and drive comfortably listening to it constantly warning you! Or it surprising you at any unexpected moment! Danger! Danger!

That would massively effect your driving, yes?

Well that’s how anxiety feels, you are trying to navigate but your warning systems are sounding!! Warning you!! Of perceived danger!! Even if you are safe. Imagine now, your body is the car, the alarm system is your nervous system and you, the driver is your mind! Anxiety can be your warning systems stuck!!
